2 sided – the layers
The mattress has a medium and a slightly softer side, you only need to choose which one you prefer. The layers of the mattress are described below.
1. Organic cotton and merino cover
100% organic cotton cover quilted using organic merino wool. Fully removable and machine washable at maximum 30°C. The mattress is wrapped into this cover. This is the thicker outer cover.
2. 100% cotton inner cover
100% cotton thinner inner cover. Fully removable and machine washable at maximum 30°C.
3. 6 cm soft Talalay latex
A lovely layer of soft and plush Talalay latex.
4. 10 cm medium density 7 zone GOLS Dunlop latex
Natural dense Dunlop latex is great as a mattress core. As a dense core, it is highly resilient and gives you excellent support as if you were supported by infinite amount of springs. It is designed with 7 comfort zones so that it perfectly aligns the spine throughout the while night.
5. 6 cm medium Talalay latex
We use 6 cm medium firm Talalay latex on the side that is of medium firmness.
On a 1 to 10 scale the firmer side is about 5-6 firm and the soft side is about 4-4.5 soft.
All the materials that we use in our mattress (latex, wool and cotton) are naturally hypoallergenic materials and are extremely breathable.
Our philosophy is to use certified organic products wherever possible. The latex that we use in our mattress core is GOLS certified organic Dunlop latex, the Talalay latex is 100% natural, the cotton and the merino wool used in our thick outer mattress cover are GOTS certified 100% organic. The mattress is completely chemical free.
1. Your mattress needs to be rotated regularly.
It is not an absolute must but we recommend that you rotate your mattress regularly, as this will even out the wear and tear that is caused. Either do this by flipping the mattress over or by rotating it so that the 'head' is at the 'foot'. The 7 zones in the core are positioned symmetrically so there is no 'head or foot end'.
2. Your mattress needs to air.
Getting air to your mattress is essential for great maintenance. When changing your bedding, it is recommended that you leave your mattress uncovered for a little bit so that the air can get to it. This keeps your mattress looking and feeling fresh.
3. Your mattress needs to be protected.
The best way to ensure your mattress stays clean and fresh is to put a protector on top of it. We sell an organic range of mattress protectors that are designed to do just that.
Otherwise take extra care whilst moving the mattress as the foam fillings can tear if grabbed or pulled on corners or edges. Also, do not use detergents or chemical cleaners on your mattress. If you do need to wash your mattress cover, make sure you do not wash it above 30 degrees. You can’t tumble dry or dry clean it either.
